What is Concurrent Enrollment
Concurrent Enrollment is a program that allows high school students to take college-level courses for both high school and college credit simultaneously. This program is designed to give students a head start on their college education, save on tuition costs, and make the transition to college smoother. Here are some key aspects of Concurrent Enrollment in Colorado:
Key Features
Dual Credit: Students earn both high school and college credit for the courses they complete.
Cost Savings: Tuition is often covered by the school district, reducing the cost for families.
College Experience: Students gain exposure to college-level coursework and expectations while still in high school.
Variety of Courses: Courses can range from general education requirements to career and technical education classes.
Eligibility: Generally available to students in grades 9-12 who meet certain academic criteria set by their high school and the participating college.
Flexible Locations: Courses can be taken on college campuses, or online.
Benefits
Academic Advancement: Students can complete college prerequisites early and potentially graduate college sooner.
Financial Advantage: Significant savings on college tuition, fees, and textbooks.
Career Exploration: Opportunity to explore various fields of study and career paths.
Increased Rigor: Students experience a higher level of academic challenge, better preparing them for future college coursework.
