Student Spotlight: Geoffrey Boden
Earning College Credit Before Graduation: How Concurrent Enrollment Sets Students Up for Success
For Geoffrey, a student at Destinations Career Academy of Colorado (CODCA), learning has never been confined to a single classroom or interest. Since enrolling with CODCA in 7th grade, Geoffrey has built an academic experience that blends rigorous coursework, college-level classes, professional work experience, and creative expression. Now a senior, living in Commerce City, Geoffrey is preparing for graduation with a 4.0 GPA, multiple college credits already earned, and a clear sense of where his interests may lead him next.
A Passion for Storytelling, Science, and the Arts
Geoffrey is drawn to stories, especially real ones. He has a strong interest in news reporting and true storytelling, paired with a love for Spanish, math, and communications. Outside of academics, he’s been acting since the age of ten and continues to perform in live productions, including his long-running role with the Colorado Railroad Museum’s Polar Express Train Ride, where he interacts with guests and brings characters to life.
Music is another cornerstone of Geoffrey’s life. He has 14 years of classical piano training, competes every few months at events across Colorado, and now teaches piano weekly, sharing his skills with younger students. Whether performing, teaching, or practicing, music remains a constant source of discipline and creativity.
College Credit While Still in High School
One of the most impactful parts of Geoffrey’s experience at CODCA has been the school’s concurrent enrollment program, which he began sophomore year. He’s completed multiple college courses through Northeastern Junior College and is currently enrolled at Front Range Community College, where he’s balancing one in-person course and three online classes.
“I’ve really enjoyed taking foundational college classes while still in high school,” Geoffrey shared. “It’s helped me feel more prepared for what’s next.”
By the time he graduates, Geoffrey will have completed seven college courses, all while maintaining a 4.0 GPA at both the high school and college level.
Leadership, Service, and Real-World Experience
Geoffrey’s learning extends well beyond coursework. He’s been a member of the National Honor Society (NHS) since sophomore year, completing volunteer hours each semester through organizations like Platte Valley Players Theater Company, where he now helps teach choreography to younger students and assists backstage during productions.
He’s also involved in HOSA (Health Occupations Students of America), exploring interests in criminal justice and crime scene reporting, and completed an engineering-focused internship through CODCA. On top of that, Geoffrey works at Dutch Bros Coffee, where he enjoys the fast-paced environment and connecting with customers, another outlet for his strong communication skills.
Geoffrey has taken a proactive approach to planning his future, participating in more than 20 college tours across Colorado, New York, Arizona, and North Carolina. He’s applied to multiple universities and is currently considering options such as University of Denver (Colorado), Baylor University (Texas), and Belmont University (Tennessee).
His academic interests span Communications for Business, criminal justice, and crime scene reporting, fields that reflect both his analytical mindset and his passion for storytelling.

A Well-Rounded Path to Success
From competitive piano performances and college coursework to leadership, volunteerism, and customer-facing work experience, Geoffrey’s journey at CODCA shows what’s possible when students are given the opportunity to pursue a personalized, well-rounded education.
As he prepares for graduation and the next chapter ahead, Geoffrey is stepping forward with confidence.
