Last Dances and Lasting Memories: Why CODCA Prom Matters So Much
For seniors at Colorado Digital Charter Academy (CODCA), prom means even more because it is often the last time everyone gathers before graduation.
As students get ready for life after high school, prom is more than a celebration. It is a chance to pause, reflect, and enjoy being together in person after so much time spent learning online.
Taylor Gandy, a senior at CODCA, explained why her last prom was especially meaningful:
“Since this is my last prom, it feels a little extra special. Last year I really enjoyed the photo booth, dancing, and playing games, so I’m excited to do all of that again.”
But for her, it was not just about having fun again. It was also about appreciating the moment and the people around her.
“I’m just happy to spend time with everyone in person one more time and make some good memories before it’s all over.”

For CODCA students, events like prom are strong reminders that even if learning is online, the sense of community is real. Friendships built through classes, chats, and online collaboration come alive during times like these.
Students came as classmates and left with memories they will keep long after graduation. The night was full of last dances, shared laughter, and friendships that began online but became something lasting.
Prom may only last a few hours, but for CODCA seniors, its impact will last a lifetime.
