Meet Our Teachers
Ann Marie Andrews, Health Science Teacher
Ms. Andrews is the Health Sciences teacher at CODCA. She has been with K12 schools for 5 years. Ann Marie received her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Exercise Physiology at East Carolina University and University of North Carolina respectively. She also received a Master of Education from Regis University. She has endorsements in Secondary Science, Health, Physical Education, Special Education and CTE Health Sciences.
Nicole Dorenkamp, Science Teacher
Mrs. Dorenkamp is a high school Science teacher who joined the K12 team in 2008. She brings more than 20 years’ experience in education with 17 of those being in online education. Nic earned a BS in Biology at the University of Southern Colorado.
Margaret Farnik, CTE Teacher
Mrs. Margaret Farnik has been with Destinations Career Academy since 2008. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from Colorado State University in 1983. She received her Alternative Teacher license in 2004. She holds CTE certifications in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) and Information Technology. She was employed as a computer designer before becoming involved in education. She has worked in education since 1995.
Catherine Guerra, Math Teacher
Ms. Guerra has been teaching for over 20 years. She joined the K12 team in 2014 bringing with her a plethora of experience. Catherine holds a bachelor’s degree in Science with minors in Mathematics and Chemistry. She obtained her teaching degree in 2000 and earned her Master’s degree in Social/Emotional learning. Ms. Guerra was awarded the Mile High Teacher of the Year Award in 2006. Ms. Guerra has written and published a children’s book.
Rebecca Jenkins, English Teacher
Mrs. Jenkins is an English teacher at CODCA, and joined the school in 2010. She earned a BA in English and MA in Instructional Technology from Colorado State University-Pueblo.
Henry Jones, Social Studies Teacher
Mr. Jones is in his eighth-year teaching social studies in an online setting. He grew up in Aspen, Colorado and went to college at CSU in Fort Collins, where he received a Bachelor’s degree in Political science. In 2008, Henry “Tersh” received his Master’s degree in Secondary Education from the University of Phoenix. He is excited to be working for you, the students.
Jennifer Jones, Math Teacher
Mrs. Jones has been teaching high school math for 20 years. This is her 7th year teaching online with K12. She has her BS in Secondary Education from Drake University and a Masters’ degree in Curriculum and Instruction from University of Colorado at Denver.
Jolene Masek, CTE Teacher
Ms. Jolene Masek earned her BFA at the University of Wisconsin Stout with a concentration in Graphic Design and has worked as a Graphic Designer since 1989. Some of her clients include Warner Bros, Disney, Charles Schultz, Universal Studios and professional sports teams. Ms. Masek received her teaching certificate at Colorado State University, Pueblo and has been teaching since 1999. She is certified in K-12 Art, CTE Visual & Design Arts, and Elementary Ed. Ms. Masek joined the K12 team in 2002.
Rachel Murphy, English Teacher
Mrs. Murphy is a secondary English teacher. She has taught grades ranging from 6th grade through 12th grade. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Oklahoma State University as well as a Master of Arts degree in Curriculum and Instruction from University of Colorado at Colorado Springs. Mrs. Murphy has been an educator for 19 years, with 13 of those years teaching in the online school format. Mrs. Murphy is currently teaching 9th grade English, 11th Grade English, and AP Language and Composition at Colorado Destinations Career Academy.
Charlene Novakovich, Business Teacher
Mrs. Charlene Novakovich is the Business/Marketing teacher for Destinations Career Academy of Colorado. This is her 10th year teaching online. Charlene earned her Bachelor's degree in Business Education from The University of Wyoming and her Master's degree from Mid-America Nazarene University in Kansas. She holds a Professional Career and Technical Education Certification from the state of Colorado.
Rustie Robison, CTE Teacher
Beth Vasquez, Social Studies Teacher
Mrs. Vasquez has been teaching online social studies for 13 years and has been with K12 since 2011. She graduated from the University of Northern Colorado with a BA in the Social Sciences with an emphasis on Secondary Education.
Special Education and Support Staff
Renee Breur, High School Counselor
Ms. Breur is the high school counselor for Destinations Career Academy of Colorado. She brings more than 10 years of experience as a School Counselor and 7 years in the online environment. She earned her BA from University of Northern Colorado and her Master’s from the University of Phoenix.
Denise Dutton, Special Education
Mrs. Denise Dutton has been with K12 since 2014 working as a high school special education teacher. Counting this year, Denise has been teaching for 16 years. She earned her BA in Secondary English Language Arts from the University of Northern Colorado (GO BEARS!), and her MA in Severe Affective Education from the University of Colorado at Denver. Her teaching license reflects both passions: ELA and Special Education.
Virginia Harris, High School Counselor
Virginia Harris is a high school counselor and teacher for Finding Your Path (careers) who joined K12 in 2014. She brings several years of higher education experience as an advisor and teacher for careers and student success. Virginia earned a BA in Social Studies from UC Berkeley, a MA from Adams State in School Counseling and a MS in Educational & Psychological Studies from East Bay in California. She holds certificates in School Counseling and CTE Specialist (initial) from Colorado.
Courtney Ludwig, High School Advisor
Mrs. Ludwig works at Destinations Career Academy as an 11th and 12th grade High School Advisor. She has worked in her position for 3 years. She has degrees in Child and Adolescent Psychotherapy and Child and Family Psychology. Mrs. Ludwig has worked at Children's Hospital, Support Inc. and Douglas County School District as a Behaviorist.
Shannon Smith, High School Advisor
Ms. Smith is the high school student advisor with CODCA and joined the staff four years ago. She is currently completing her BA in Educational Studies at Western Governors University and plans to pursue an MA degree in M.Ed. from the same university.
Ms. Smith has worked with youth in various capacities within the education and human service field. Some of her experience includes working as a Direct Care Professional with the Laradon school; as a Direct Care Counselor with Mile High Council & Comitis Family Services; as Program Coordinator for After School Initiatives for Mercy Housing, Inc in Denver, CO; and as the Southwest Regional Program Coordinator for the nonprofit YouthAction in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
